The Palio of Siena
The most famous race in Italy is run twice a year, July 2 (Palio di Provenzano) and August 16th (Palio of the Assumption), in the unique setting of the magnificent Piazza del Campo, in the Torre del Mangia in Siena.
The winner is awarded the Contrada colored cloth and can afford to look for one year, other districts up and down. Superb testing and related events taking place in the days immediately preceding and following the race.
